No. 255: Julie Mehretu

Episode No. 255 of The Modern Art Notes Podcast features artist Julie Mehretu.

Mehretu debuts new work at New York’s Marian Goodman Gallery this weekend. The exhibition will be on view through October 29.

Mehretu’s work has been the subject of numerous solo museum exhibitions, including at the Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin, the Walker Art Center and the Detroit Institute of Arts. This past summer, Mehretu had her first exhibition in her home country of Ethiopia, at the Modern Art Museum Gebre Kristos Desta Center in Addis Ababa. Next year the Fundacion Serralves in Portugal will initiate a survey exhibition of Mehretu’s work that will travel to the Centro Botin in Santander, Spain. Mehretu will also create a large-scale commission for SFMOMA in 2017.

This is Mehretu’s second appearance on The MAN Podcast. She was previously the guest on Episode No. 82 in 2013.

Air date: September 22, 2016.
