Episode No. 249 of The Modern Art Notes Podcast features artist Rebecca Morris and Roy Dowell.
Morris is is among the 26 artists included in “Made in L.A. 2016: a, the, though, only,” the Hammer Museum’s biennial. The exhibition, which was curated by Aram Moshayedi and Hamza Walker, is on view through August 28.
Morris is a Los Angeles-based abstract painter. Her solo exhibition credits include LAXART and 356 Mission Road in Los Angeles, a survey of paintings from 1996-2005 at Chicago’s Renaissance Society and an exhibition at Germany’s Kunsthalle Lingen that traveled to the Bonnefanten in Maastricht, The Netherlands.
On the program host Tyler Green referenced Morris’s appearance on the artist interviews website In the Make.
On the second segment, we’ll turn the clock back to four years ago, when Los Angeles-based artist Roy Dowell was included in the 2012 iteration of the Hammer’s “Made in L.A.” biennial. Dowell is the chairman of the graduate fine arts department at the Otis College of Art and Design. His work is in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, MOCA, the Hammer, and the Berkeley Art Museum. For images, click here.
