Episode No. 196 of The Modern Art Notes Podcast features artist Liz Deschenes. It was recorded in February, 2015.
The Walker Art Center is exhibiting “Liz Deschenes: Gallery 7.” The show is a year-long installation of new work, including new photograms and pieces informed by the science of art conservation. Deschenes expects the photograms in particular to change slowly over the course of the year the show is on view. The installation is named after the Walker gallery in which it is installed. On the occasion of the exhibition, the Walker has opened up a near-floor-to-ceiling window that soaks the gallery — and Deschenes’ light-sensitive works — with natural light. The show was curated by the Walker’s Eric Crosby and will be on view through November 22.
Related Descheneses are on view at MASS MoCA in “Liz Deschenes: Gallery 4.1.1.” The museum has not announced a closing date for the installation.
Air date: August 5, 2015.
