No. 166: Rebecca Rabinow, 2014 top ten

Episode No. 166 of The Modern Art Notes Podcast features curator Rebecca Rabinow and host Tyler Green’s 2014 top ten list.

Rabinow is the co-curator of “Cubism: The Leonard A. Lauder Collection,” an exhibition of a promised gift of over 80 cubist works to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. (Her co-curator is Lauder adviser and Hunter College and Graduate Center of the City University of New York professor Emily Braun.)

Rabinow is the curator-in-charge of the Met’s new Leonard A. Lauder Research Center for Modern Art. Rabinow was a guest on Episode No. 61 of The MAN Podcast, when she discussed “Matisse: In Search of True Painting,” which she co-curated.

The catalogue of the gift and the Met’s exhibition is one of the best books published on cubism in recent years. It was published by the Met and is distributed by Yale University Press. Amazon offers it for $40. The Met has created a fantastic website for the exhibition.

The second segment of the features host Tyler Green’s top ten(-ish) list of 2014 exhibitions. Green’s previous year-end top tens: 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004.

Air date: Jan. 8. 2015.
