Episode No. 101 of The Modern Art Notes Podcast features artist Gabriel Kuri.
He is included in the exhibition “Mexico Inside Out: Themes in Art Since 1990” at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The show was curated by Andrea Karnes and is on view through January 5, 2014. This week’s show was recorded live at MAMFW on October 1.
Gabriel Kuri is a Mexican-born artist who, until recently, has been working in Brussels. (Just before we taped this show, Kuri and his family moved to Los Angeles.) Kuri began his career working with artist Gabriel Orozco and has held solo gallery exhibitions in Mexico, Norway, the US and the UK. In 2011 the Blaffer Gallery at the University of Houston surveyed Kuri’s career with the exhibition “Nobody needs to know the price of your Saab,” which traveled to the ICA Boston.
Air date: Oct. 10, 2013.
