This week’s Modern Art Notes Podcast features one of Europe’s best-known and most-admired artists: Olafur Eliasson.
There are two best places to see Eliasson’s work on the interwebs: His own site and the site that MoMA built for Eliasson’s 2008 SFMOMA-originated survey, Take Your Time. This picture of Dodecahedron Lamp (2005) is from that presentation. The MoMA site also includes video and other Eliasson-related resources.
An exhibition of Eliasson’s newest photographs — featuring his ancestral homeland of Iceland — opens Thursday at Chelsea’s Tanya Bonakdar Gallery. Also, Taschen has just published a new edition of “Studio Olafur Eliasson,” a 532-page ‘encyclopedia’ of Eliasson’s studio practice. (It’s available on Amazon for $25, a 40 percent discount.)
