This week’s Modern Art Notes Podcast features Ori Gersht. A mid-career survey of Gersht’s work is currently on view at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
One of the works Gersht and I discuss at length is The Forest, a meditative, haunting video that Gersht made near Kosiv, Ukraine. Many of Gersht’s themes come together in this piece, including his love of trees and landscape and his interest in juxtaposing violence and beauty. It’s a wonderful piece and I hope this excerpt gives you some idea of its power.
