My favorite part of the conversation I had with Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller on this week’s Modern Art Notes Podcast was when we discussed their interest in Jan van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait (1434, above), and why the painting was of particular interest to two artists who came to prominence for their interest in sound. Van Eyck was the subject of MAN Podcast Episode No. 20, when I spoke with author Craig Harbison and conservator Ron Spronk about van Eyck and his work.
